Plantation Artists' Guild & Gallery

Cooking , writing and teaching healthy living recipes, green gardening, constructing elaborate cakes, restoring her homes, painting portraits of Cats Angels adoptee's, non-profit fundraising, these are just a sampling of the pursuits and passions of Noelle Almond. 

 

Born in Lexington, Kentucky and raised in Atlanta, the daughter of two artists who owned and ran a gallery there.  Of course, art played a central role as she grew up, so naturally, she chose Atlanta Art Institute to hone her skills.  There she majored in ceramics and clothing design. From art school, Noelle moved to Hilton Head Island where she married her husband Alex.  Eventually they settled in Lexington, SC.  There she established a successful pastry business as a sideline to her realtor position.

 

Noelle and Alex bought in Amelia Island Plantation 20 years ago and recently retired here to focus on painting. Noelle takes lessons from the Mauers,  studying painting with Kathleen and drawing with William.  Currently her media choices are acrylic and ink.  Her favorite painting subjects are the animals around us – cats, dogs, the ponies of Cumberland Island, and the creatures from the ocean.

 

Inspired by Winslow Homer, Monet, spending time in art museums and galleries throughout her life, she found spending time with other artist work inspiring and hopeful growing up and as an adult.  Her challenge in art is “ to see what’s really there and then put it on my canvas”.  Noelle has been an exhibiting member of the Plantation Artists’ Guild and Gallery since October 2019.  Her work is also on display at JW Framing and Art Gallery, the Eight Flags Antique Market. and her dog art work is displayed at Redbones Bakery with all proceeds going to the Humane Society of Nassau County. She started a cat art gallery at Cats Angels Inc.SPCA, in their adoption room (100% of the proceeds go to help the kitties). Noelle notes she is "So excited to now have more artist on the island join our Cats Angels gallery wall to benefit our spay and neuter program."
