Ghost Ponies: My love of horses started when I was in elementary school due to my best friend being obsessed with this majestic creature. I have been very fortunate to spend time with my sister in laws horses for over 30 years. Spending time in the barn and fields with my four legged nephews always inspires me to paint. I have a great love of the Cumberland Island Ponies, my family has visited Cumberland Island since the early 1970s and the majestic stance of their presence presses me to image how they see our world. I am honored to be able to live so close to them and one of my childhood haunts.
This is an original acrylic and ink painting on canvas board. My painting was mounted on a handmade pine box frame, made by my husband and artist Alex, he then added a float frame around it, that I hand painted a dark background on, to enhance the moody feeling of my ponies. This framed work of art measures 17.25' x 21" and is wired for hanging.
