Red Poppy #8

10"x10" (15.25x15.25 including frame) Silk Painting.

Mounted on archival quality aluminum. The Red Poppy is one of my favorite blooms to paint. This bloom was inspired by time spent in Mom and Dad’s backyard in Kentucky. One summer they had a 20’x20’ patch of red poppies that were a blaze of color. I continue to work from reference photos and my memories to capture the blooms that warm my heart. This silk painting started with white Habotai silk from Thailand, a light design was penciled in and then it was painted with French Dyes. The painted silk was then steam set for 2 hours and then mounted to aluminum using an archival quality clear sealer.

Location: This artwork is currently on display at the Plantation Artists Guild and Gallery located at the Shops of Amelia Island Plantation.
