Leslie Collins

Leslie and her husband Mike moved to Fernandina Beach from Kansas City, Missouri in 2017. Art has always been a part of her life but marriage, family, and career came first.

Leslie was introduced to watercolor in 2018 and knew immediately that it was a fit. After moving to the Island, she was fortunate to meet and paint weekly with a group of local artists.

“I am always looking for ways to bring movement to my paintings. Growing up in the midwest, I was fascinated by the changes in color, atmosphere, and the anticipation of a storm coming. Here on Amelia Island, I am inspired by the beautiful clouds, landscape, and ever-changing weather. Watercolor allows me to experiment with movement and color in endless combinations.”

She began volunteering at the Island Art Association in 2020 and became an Exhibiting Member in 2021. Leslie placed first in the March 2022 Nouveau Art Show “Off Beat”.

She has been volunteering at The Plantation Artists’ Guild & Gallery over this past year and became an Exhibiting Member June 2022.

Leslie’s paintings may also be viewed at Island Art Association, and JW Frame Gallery.
