Caroline Killhour

“Underwater, light behaves differently than it does in the air. Water reflects, distorts and creates patterns just by its nature. Intrigued by this different realm, imagination blends with reality. My artwork is informed by this moving, shifting, shimmering world.”
Caroline Killhour is a printmaker and painter. She has studio practices in Maui, Hawaii and Amelia Island, Florida. Caroline’s influences include Japanese wood cuts and naturally occurring, repeating patterns found in nature. She is fascinated by color and pattern and their interplay and movement. She finds carving of the blocks and the creation of patterns and layers is a way to interpret and make visible what she sees in the world. The magic of water and sky and the patterns of fur, feathers and petals.
Caroline graduated from both the Tyler School of Art and Architecture and Fashion Institute of Technology. She is represented in private collections throughout the country as well as the Hawaii State Foundation of Culture and the Arts.
