PAGG 2020 A Look Back Photo Exhibit

About the event

The Plantation Artists' Guild and Gallery (PAGG) and its volunteer corps, Art Lovers, have created 2020 A Look Back, inviting visitors and Nassau County residents to submit entries to a community-wide collection of photographs, that allows us to take a look back and tell the story of life in Nassau County in the year 2020 - a year like no other.

We are asking the public to submit no more than three (3) photos that illustrate an experience in the year 2020 in Nassau County …. photos that evoke emotion and display adaptation, humor, resilience, triumph, and loss related to Covid19. In 2020, we also experienced crazy storms, king tides, comets, protests, a Presidential election, holidays and so much more that will round out this remarkable year. It is said a picture speaks 1000 words, the goal is to capture the emotional roller coaster of 2020….the best, worst, and the wonder of the year. While we appreciate the beauty of the area’s sunrise, sunsets and wildlife, we are not focused on these subjects in this project.

What will be done with the photos collected? Art Lovers members will select the top 100 photographs, which will be juried by PAGG members. Large reproductions of the winning photographs will be displayed at a grand opening at PAGG (a live or virtual reception), be featured in a video, and made available to our Title and Gold Sponsors, other galleries, banks, retail outlets, or public buildings for display. Hopefully, a book may be produced for sale in the community. Any net revenue generated from this project will be donated to Arts Alive Nassau, a non-profit whose mission is to promote the arts and to provide free or low-cost arts opportunities and educational experiences to children who would otherwise have little or no access to the arts.

The deadline for submission is Jan. 15, 2021. Completion of the project is targeted for early 2021. Please carefully review the guidelines for entry and the required entry process.
