Dickie Anderson

Dickie Anderson is best known for her writing – a column in the Fernandina Beach News Leader and her articles in the Islander Magazine. She has also authored several books including Great Homes and Churches of Amelia Island, a popular island resource profiling homes and churches in the island’s Historic District.

 

She is a life long painter her talent first triggered in high school and later in college. Career challenges kept her from the pursuit of painting, but her creative talents were always an important part of her marketing career.

 

Now semi-retired she is focusing on painting and taking advantage of all opportunities to grow her talent. She participated in a workshop with Jill Steinhaus with several other Amelia Island artists and looks forward to future workshops.

 

Her primary medium is acrylic. In addition she utilizes water color and some oil. Her paintings are impressions of the coast and marshes she loves. Portraits of dogs are sometimes in demand!

 

Anderson is active in the community. She coordinates a pet therapy program for island care facilities. She is the mother of three sons, has five grandchildren and lives with her husband, Shelly AKA Big Guy, a Yorkshire terrier Katie and a Labradoodle, Andy.
